I want to share with you a new exciting book I read this past week, I have been SMILING everyday since I started reading it. It's a very good book. The book is 272 pages, with lots of great footnote (rare meat for me) in truth ever page of this book is a real GEM. As I finished the last chapter of the book last evening, I had a vision in my mind of a light wooden church pew in front of me, and on the backside were a bible, a hymnal, and one of these books for people to read. If only every Christian would read it was my thought to the Lord. I believe it would help them SEE You in Your true Jewish setting.
I'm praying this book will impact many many people for the Lord, Jews and Gentile alike.
Now, to tell you the truth I knew almost everything in this book about Rabbi Jesus; I have been teaching this kind of stuff for over 19 years
It was a delight to me to see how well Spangler and Lois laid out everything in this book; really it moved me to tears. I think the Christian world at large has been waiting for this book, yes, I know it has...! So anyone who wants to KNOW their HEBREW Lord Yeshua (Jesus), should read this book.
Mayim Hayim Ministries will give this book a five stars***** rating, and will carry it and use it in our ministry as a great teaching tool. I promise you, you will gain a much deeper understanding of God by seeing Yeshua in His own world. You will not only look through the eyes of a first century Jew reading this book, but of a first century Jew "living during the Second Temple period to boot." Then you will see Jesus "as a Horse of a different color," if you know what I mean by that Movie idiom?
My friends, the Scriptures you hold so dear to your heart, I tell you the truth, you will know them much better after you read this book. I promise you this will happen for you. Like I said before, this book is a real GEM; I hope you'll order a copy or two today. It would make a wonderful Passover or Easter gift for someone this year.
Shalom - Baruch HaShem Yeshua,

When one considers the text of Genesis 2:15-17 and 3:22-24,
Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."
(Genesis 2:15-17)
Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard THE WAYto the tree of life.
(Genesis 3:22-24)
we see that Adam and Eve did sin since they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. However, the text noted in chapter 3 shows very precisely that they did not have to leave the Garden of Eden because of their sin.God did not send them out of Paradise as a punishment.God is concerned that Adam and Eve, whom HE loved and created, would have the opportunity to eat from the other tree, the Tree of Life, and thus live forever IN THEIR SIN!!God could not stand the idea that HIS creation, man and woman, would live forever in their sin.So, HE decided out of mercy to send them out otherwise HE could not redeem them to set them free.Sending them of the garden is not a punishment but an act of love and mercy of God towards HIS 1st man and woman! As a side note this begs the question would Adam and Eve have lived forever even if they did not sin!!After their sin we hear God saying that HE is concerned unless they eat of the Tree of Life and live forever. This implies that perhaps Adam and Eve were not told or blessed by God to live forever in Gan Eden (Hebrew for the Garden of Eden and many times called Paradise by the ancient sages of Judaism) but always had the opportunity to eat of the Tree of Life and thus live forever since they were allowed to eat of this tree.It is an interesting question in light of the fact that modern Christian thought is that they created and set in the Garden being guaranteed they’d live forever. Now we see that this perhaps is not as automatic as we may have thought.
God sent them out and assigns to awesome mighty angelic guards, the Cherubim, to guard. But, the key here is what did they guard??Did they guard the Garden??Did they guard the Tree of Life?In Genesis 3 we read very precisely they were guarding THE WAY to the Tree of Life in Paradise or Gan Eden. This is the 1st time the phrase, THE WAY, or ha Derek in Hebrew is used in the Bible. These mighty angels were guarding the way to the Tree of Life.No one shall have access until God could redeem HIS creation and then the way back to the Tree of Life in HIS Paradise, the Garden of Eden, may be opened again.
What do we as Christians in the 21st century call ourselves??Well, the 1st title is Christians.Or, some might say we are God’s people.Others say we are believers or children of the Father. In the 1st century the believers were called the people of THE WAY.
and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
(Acts 9:2)
It is obvious why they called themselves this since the Master, our Lord Yeshua, told us HE is THE WAY.This now immediately takes us back to Genesis 3:22-24 where the angels are assigned to guard THE WAY to the Tree of Life. The connection of the New Testament and the Old Testament is being very clear – we all know that Jesus is the one who by HIS death has paid the price (to redeem in the Hebrew culture is to pay a price for the one who is to be set free) for us to free us once and for all from our sin and the punishment of sin.By HIS death, the redemption of mankind, is complete and now THE WAY to the Father and to everlasting life is established.Jesus is pictured as that pathway or that roadway that the Cherubim were guarding outside Gan Eden. They were guarding HIM until the time was ready for the WAY to be open again.
When Jesus died it is said that the curtain in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. That curtain covered the WAY into the Holy of Holies or the way into where God supposedly loves. In Jesus’ day the idea of God living in the Holy of Holies was more symbolic that reality. Many scholars (Jewish and Christian) would say that God left the temple before it was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 b.c. – even Ezekiel
The glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain which is east of the city.
(Ezekiel 11:23)
has a vision of the shekinah glory of God leaving the HOUSE and the Holy of Holies because the sin of Israel was so great and they would not repent.
The curtain had two Cherubim embroidered into the fabric to give one a picture of these might guards stopping one from entering into the presence of God.It is a picture that is directly associated to the two Cherubim in Genesis guarding the WAY to the Tree of Life. But, when Jesus dies the redemption price has been paid and the way is now open again!!Because of HIS death and suffering the price is paid so that we now have access again to God because the penalty of our sin and the sin of Adam and Eve that has fallen upon us is erased. Moreover one might say that not only was THE WAY open for us into the presence of God and to the Tree of Life so we can now live forever without sin in HIS presence, but THE WAY was also open for God to come out of only one dwelling place and at Pentecost to come and dwell in us as HIS Temple!!Paul said that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit (not each of us as Temples but we collectively as the great assembly called HIS church – the Greek word “YOU” Paul uses in the phrase that “YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT” is the Greek form of the word you that is plural and does not mean a singular person. So, we are not individually temples but we together are one temple in which God dwells.
In Luke 24:6-7
While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living One among the dead? "He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."
(Luke 24:4-7)
we read that there were 2 angels outside the tomb after Jesus was raised from the dead.In Matthew and Mark’s account we read about only one. There are different points of view why there is this difference but let’s assume there were 2 angels. If this is the case then it takes us back to the entrance to Gan Eden being guarded by the Cherubim in Genesis 3.But, this time the 2 angels having nothing to guard!!There is nothing in the tomb.HE who is called the WAY and is the WAY is gone!!The malakim (Hebrew for angel messengers) are saying HE is not here since HE has risen and you’ll find HIM in Galilee as HE told you.The WAY is now open and walking among us.Just considered what Jesus tells John to write to the church in Ephesus.Jesus has John write 7 letters to the churches that John was the pastor of in the 1st century.Jesus has a specific message for each assembly. In the letter to Ephesus we read that to the one who overcomes that Jesus will grant that one to be able to eat of the Tree of Life in the Paradise of God.
'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.'
(Revelation 2:7)
As we eat the flesh of the Lamb of God and drink HIS blood we partake in the Messiah and become one with the WAY.And as we live and rely on Yeshua to help us live an overcoming life, we will eat of the Tree of Life and live forever in Gan Eden or the Paradise of God.This gives us the rationale for relating Paradise to Gan Eden since here in this text Jesus is equating them.Where else do you find the Tree of Life??
Note: Eden
ē´d'n (עדן, ‛ēdhen, “delight”; Ἔδεμ, Édem):
(1) The land in which “Yahweh God planted a garden,” where upon his creation “he put the man whom he had formed” (Gen_2:8). In the Assyrian inscriptions ı̀dinu (Accadian, êdin) means “plain” and it is from this that the Biblical word is probably derived. Following are the references to Eden in the Bible, aside from those in Gen 2 and 3: Gen_4:16; Isa_51:3; Eze_28:13; Eze_31:9, Eze_31:16, Eze_31:18; Eze_36:35; Joe_2:3. The Garden of Eden is said to be “eastward, in Eden” Gen (Joe_2:8); where the vegetation was luxurious (Joe_2:9) and the fig tree indigenous (Joe_3:7), and where it was watered by irrigation. All kinds of animals, including cattle, beasts of the field and birds, were found there (Joe_2:19, Joe_2:20). Moreover, the climate was such that clothing was not needed for warmth. It is not surprising, therefore, that the plural of the word has the meaning “delights,” and that Eden has been supposed to mean the land of delights, and that the word became a synonym for Paradise.
From the International Bible Encyclopedia
Once again we see Jesus in the Old Testament.Once again we see that Torah, the 1st 5 books of the Bible or the books of Moses, all point to Messiah – to Jesus.Matter of fact that is what Torah means – a pointer or instruction.Once again we see that the Bible is ONE book with ONE redemption plan all pointing to Yeshua HaMaschiach or Jesusu the Messiah.
May HE who makes peace in HIS high places make peace in us and in all the assembly and in all Israel. So say YE … Amen!!
See below for details on this Saturday's study and other details on the overall program.
Next study is Saturday Nov. 21st and every Saturday at River of Life church from 3:30 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. Some of us will meet at 2:30 p.m. for praise and worship and prayer. The readings are below ...
This study will have its foundation in the Torah, the 1st five books of the Bible. It is said that the Torah was given by Adonai, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, to His people Israel. It is said that the Torah is the way and the truth and the life. Check it out in Psalm 119. Read it carefully and know that when you read it in English and read the word "law" in Hebrew it is Torah and NOT law. But, Yeshua is the way and the truth and the life. That means He is the Torah itself - the living Torah. Yeshua stands upon the Torah which is the foundation of the New Covenant.
Yeshua uses the Torah to talk about Himself and the prophecies of Himself to the two men on the Emmaeus road in the Gospel of Luke. Yeshua also explains His YOKE of Torah in the sermon on the mount. Yeshua's whole life was based upon Torah; even the 2 greatest commandments Yeshua did not make up - they are in the Torah.
So, each week we will perhaps start in Torah and learn more about Yeshua the Messiah. Or, perhaps, we will be in the weekly New Testament reading to determine how our Hebrew heritage helps us understand a key event or statement that Yeshua is making or teaching. This will be an exciting time to study and discuss and have great fellowship with the community of believers in Yeshua. That is why it is called a community study fellowship - it means all who wish to go deeper in their Bible knowledge and in their relationship with Yeshua are welcome. This is NOT a class!!
Light of Menorah knows that "life happens" and you can't make it all the time. No problem - come when you can to enjoy His word and to delight in the sweetness of our relationship with our Beloved, our Messiah, our Lord and Savior of Israel and the nations, Yeshua. Come and feast on the bread and the wine of His Word - of the Word Himself.
The weekly readings are below - the date is in the 1st column. To participate you MUST read the scriptures for the week prior to coming. As you read it is suggested you take notes, write questions, note down thoughts and bring them with you. Yes, we will have a teacher each week. But, the goal of the teacher is to make sure you can ask questions and share comments and bring others into discussion. This is not about listening to a teacher and focusing only on one - NO, we will focus on Him and His Word and on Yeshua so all can come to a fuller knowledge of ourselves in HIM.
